Work to an existing home
• Demolition of the front garden wall, which is currently leaning forward and showing signs of structural damage, and replacement with a new low retaining wall (875mm in height, measured from pavement level) with railings and an evergreen hedge planted behind the railings, extending along the entire front edge of the garden. • Demolition of the raised concrete planter. • Demolition of the refuse and meter enclosures. • Demolition of the small plinth walls around the lime trees, to be replaced with metal edging. • Removal of the existing hard surfaces and resurfacing of the entire area. The pathway from the front gate to the front door will be tiled with traditional Victorian tiles, designed as a ‘carpet’ leading to the entrance. The remainder of the area will be tiled with permeable slabs to allow water drainage, helping to manage surface water runoff and reduce the risk of flooding. • Construction of a refuse enclosure in the location of the existing planter. This will be built in concrete, rendered and painted white, with timber slatted doors. • Construction of a gas and electricity meter enclosure along the boundary wall with Number 34. This will also be rendered concrete, painted white, with timber slatted doors. • Installation of low-level lighting along the external steps. If the condition of the boundary wall in unsuitable for creating chases then the light will be cast into the steps. • Installation of a new handrail along the steps leading to the front door.
